For perfectly smooth and even surfaces, dry lining is used for removable wall partitions, suspended ceilings and raised flooring in both domestic and commercial properties. Work can be combined with traditional plastering or re-locatable partitioning work, for example sectioning off open plan areas. Dry lining is an effective method used to hide wiring or pipes. It also provides rooms with improved acoustics or provide a cavity space for insulation.
Work incorporates first stage fixing (erecting panels) followed by a finishing stage (plasterboard preparation for decoration)
Examples of services included in fixing stage:
* Measure and cut plasterboard to the right sizes and angles in line with design plans
* Fix the panels to timber or metal frames (or ceiling joists) using special studs
* Cut panels to fit around doorways and create openings for windows.
Examples of services included in finishing stage:
* Sealing joints using a filler or adhesive
* Taping over the seal either by hand or with a taping machine
* Applying a thin layer of plaster over the tape (skimming)
* Sanding down the area ready for painting and decorating
